Arc'Teryx designs equipment for movement in the mountains—where conditions shift quickly, and performance depends on how well you adapt.

I created a digital layering guide to translate this expertise into an accessible, decision-driven experience—helping users understand not just what to wear, but why layering matters in changing environments. The goal was to bridge technical product knowledge with real-world use, empowering customers to make confident decisions before they ever step outside.

To achieve this, I focused on simplifying the complexity of layering systems into clear, intuitive pathways for the following user groups:

New and casual users, building a foundational understanding of layering principles and when each layer is needed

Active outdoor users, refining their systems based on activity level, weather variability, and output

Customers exploring products, connecting layering concepts directly to relevant gear within the Arc’teryx ecosystem

By aligning education with product discovery, the guide transforms a traditionally complex topic into a clear, actionable experience—reducing uncertainty and enabling better decisions in the field.

Try the Prototype

This prototype is best experienced on a full-width desktop screen or in full-screen mode for optimal clarity and interaction.

Reflection

This project strengthened my ability to:

  • Develop interactive prototypes for complex product experiences in Figma

  • Design within an established design system

  • Translate technical knowledge into clear educational content

  • Use digital tools and content as marketing assets

  • Structure information for exploration and learning

  • Bridge product education with product discovery

Key takeaway: In prototyping, clarity drives confidence. This was not about showcasing features, but about making complex systems feel simple, intuitive, and ready to use.
